Dark Chocolate Almond Strawberries
A single strawberry gets a fine zigzag of melted dark chocolate and a scattering of crushed almonds. It is deliberately small, quick and portioned: the chocolate brings richness, the fruit keeps it fresh, and the nuts add enough crunch to make one berry feel finished.

Ingredients
- 57 g (2 oz) dark chocolate chips
- 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) olive oil
- 10 fresh strawberries
- 28 g (1 oz) almonds, crushed
Method
- Put the chocolate chips and olive oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 20 seconds, stir, then continue in short 10-second bursts until smooth.
- Transfer the melted chocolate to a small freezer bag and snip a very small opening from one corner.
- Set the strawberries on parchment or foil. Pipe the chocolate back and forth over the fruit, then sprinkle with crushed almonds.
- Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, until the chocolate has set.
Cook’s tip
Dry the strawberries thoroughly before decorating. Water on the surface makes the chocolate slide rather than set cleanly.
Variation
Use finely chopped pistachios or hazelnuts instead of almonds. The published nutrition applies to the almond version.
